Setup

Deal 7 cards each for two players, or 5 each for three or more. Turn the top card of the deck face up to start the discard pile.

Your turn

Play one card that matches the suit or rank of the top discard. If you can’t play, draw from the deck until you can, or use a house rule like Draw 1 or Draw 3.

Wild eights

An 8 can be played on anything. When you play one, choose the suit the next player must follow.

Scoring

The first player out scores the cards left in everyone else’s hands. Each 8 is worth 50, each face card 10, an Ace 1 and every other card its face value. The first player to reach the target score wins.

Tips to win at Crazy Eights

  • Save your eights for when you’re stuck. They are your escape card.
  • When you play an 8, pick the suit you hold the most of.
  • Watch players close to going out and switch to a suit they don’t have.
