How our dice work

Every roll here comes from fair dice, and you can check an online game yourself. This is how it works.

Where a roll comes from

Every die comes from the game’s seeded random generator. One starting value, the seed, makes the whole run of numbers. The same seed always gives the same rolls, so a game can be replayed roll for roll. In a solo game your device picks the seed when the game starts. Bots roll from the same generator as you.

What never changes a roll

No purchase, level, streak, skin or ad changes a roll. Nothing you own or do outside the game reaches the dice.

The server replays your games

When your progress is saved, the server plays the game again from its seed and the moves you made. XP, quests and leagues count only what that replay shows, never what a device reports.

Online games lock the seed before the first roll

In an online game the server picks the seed and keeps it secret until the game ends. Before the first roll, the table shows the seed’s lock, a fingerprint (a SHA-256 hash) of the seed and a random salt. Changing the seed would change the lock, so it can’t be swapped mid-game.

Verify this game

After an online game of Ludo or Backgammon, open Verify this game on Results. Your device takes the revealed seed and salt, checks that they match the lock it was shown at the start, and replays every roll you saw.

Daily challenges

Everyone gets the same daily. Where its seed would give away what comes next, such as the pieces in Block Puzzle or the rolls in Five Dice, the daily uses a secret seed the server hands out only on that day.

What the numbers mean

Dice stats count each face against the expected 1 in 6. The luck card compares your average roll with a fair die (3.5) and counts sixes and doubles against what fair dice would give. Short runs swing a lot. A streak of sixes, or none at all, happens with fair dice.
